Choosing Travel Luggage
Tuesday, 12 August 2014 | Alan - Escape 2
Travel will be the most fun and the least hassle if you spend some time planning. Plus, this planning time can be used to extend the enjoyment of your adventure too!
When it comes to packing and planning, the first item on your list should be your case. Think about the weight of your bag - is it light enough? Do you have enough pockets to organise yourself? Is the fabric durable enough for air travel and your intended activity? Can you pack enough kit and then manoeuvre yourself easily though the airport? If the answer is ‘No’, then perhaps its time for an update.
Wheeled Luggage - view our range
I can’t imagine travelling without wheeled luggage now days! Having those handy little wheels tucked away on the bottom of your case makes the world of difference to travel simplicity. Pack as much as you want/need and when you reach the airport, pop up the handle and trundle off to check-in. No need to spend the next ten minutes finding a trolley. These bags are available in plenty of different sizes, from the really quite large, to the perfect size for overhead cabin storage.
Upon reaching your destination, a wheeled bag will be easy to transport, leaving a hand free to carry other bits and pieces. And you’ll be able to concentrate on taking in your surroundings rather more easily too.
Duffle Bags - view our range
A ‘Go-To’ choice for loads of uses, the duffle bag comes into it’s own when you need a large volume of space to accommodate your needs over a variety of adventures. Brilliant for air travel (if you don’t mind carrying it), skiing holidays, camping, adventure sports holidays, car trips, weekend breaks, over-night stays with friends, gym bag, sailing trips, beach bag……the list goes on.
Key to the most fantastic of duffle is it’s fabric. Something really tough is best, (this needn’t mean heavy) along with super-dooper quality zips that will last and last. Lid and/or side pockets are useful for organisation or separation of dirty laundry. Compression straps are there to pull in excess volume when its not needed. Some options have padded straps to make carrying over the shoulder comfortable and some have straps that enable the bag to carried like a rucksack.
Suitcase-Style Bags - view our range
A case like this provides an ideal amalgamation of suitcase practicality with lightweight, technologically advanced fabrics and construction methods. A travel bag of this ilk opens right up like a suitcase for easy access to your kit, while the design is sleek and modern. Padding meanwhile will protect the contents of your travel pack. This kind of case from a brand such as Arc’teryx will be much lighter than a typical version available on the highstreet.
